I love Instagram. It’s also ruining me! Anyone else feeling the same way?
There was a time, I’m sure there was, when I posted on Instagram proportionately to what I saw on Instagram, i.e. I wasn’t spending stupid amounts of time on the app! As of late though, this fragile balance shifted and I’m sorry to say it, Insta, our relationship is no longer healthy!
These days, most of what I do on Instagram is look at everyone else’s beautiful photos, study how the photographer captured the light, or the mood, or the scene, drool over Portuguese tiles, and travel shots, kittens, coffee mugs and wonderful usages of the Get to Work Book. The sad bit? I’m not exaggerating!
Instead of saving some of my time to go through my own photos to edit, write away on the blog, water the plants, sew some skirts, or start two knitted jumpers, in no particular order, I spend time on Instagram until my eyes can no longer absorb beauty. What??! This must stop!
So… I’ve read from so many others different strategies to be less digital where people wouldn't check their online life in the evenings or first thing in the morning and never did I think it would apply to me because I have a full time job! Of course my digital time is bound to be my down time as well, naturally eating a little bit into it. Often, I won’t sit down to be digital until gone nine at night! How wild! So how could I possibly implement such regimes and reply to emails, or blog, or breathe in some insta-beauty? How, dear people, how could I do this?
Well, I don’t really know, but I’m doing it anyway. No more being digital for Joey beyond nine pm.
I’m a believer in the just doing it approach to things; in this case, the not doing it approach. I’m so looking forward to seeing how this affects my time and productivity and mood that I’m starting right now. Initially for a month, to see how I get on and what tweaks I may have to do in order to keep on top of things. Because, you know, I’ll definitely get on top of everything! Like the laundry! Or dinner.
And that’s that, folks! For now!
I find Instagram to easily take up a huge chunk of my day! 😛
Can’t get into Instagram…what’s so good about it, am I missing something?
Yes, you are!
Instagram is eye candy 😀
Haha… I’m not alone 😀
